What is Coaching?
Coaching is defined as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. It is an interactive process that helps individuals and organizations improve their performance and achieve extraordinary results. Professional coaches work with clients in all areas, including business, career, finances, health and relationships. As a result of professional coaching, clients set better goals, take more action, make better decisions, and more fully use their natural strengths.
Co-Active Coaching is a particular method of coaching which supports and enhances the lifelong process of human learning, effectiveness and fulfillment. The coach and client work together to bring added focus, power and success to all areas of the client’s life. It is a trusted alliance in which the client is held as naturally creative, resourceful and whole as they identify what is most important to them and move through the barriers that have held them back in the past. There is a fluid give-and-take in this partnership, with the coach listening keenly and asking powerful questions and the client bringing their own highest wisdom about themselves. Throughout the coaching process, the client is supported and held accountable as they take actions that align with their personal goals and values.
Coaching is designed for anyone who wants to experience greater levels of fulfillment and success in their lives. It takes a commitment to personal introspection, and a willingness to let go of any limiting beliefs or behaviors that have held you back in the past. Coaching will take you through a process of clarifying your personal values and defining your priorities as you get in touch with your most authentic self. It will also provide you with a solid framework for achieving your most precious goals and dreams.
Your coach will serve as your guide on this very personal journey of self-discovery, and will be your ally as you move forward in your life. They will support you as you explore the intricacies of your deepest self, and encourage you as you navigate through your biggest challenges. Your coach acts a mirror for you, creating a safe environment in which you can clearly see all that you are and all that you desire. The relationship you develop with your coach is founded on safety, respect and trust. Your coach will push you to achieve more than you thought possible, and celebrate your greatest victories with you. All of the work they do is in service of you and the attainment of your most meaningful and satisfying life.
Coaching will generally address a client’s specific personal projects, life balance or direction, business successes, or general conditions in the client’s life or profession. Coaching services or activities include values clarification, personal strategic planning, accountability structures, and a process of examining various modes of operating in life.
Psychotherapy involves the diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders or emotional issues. It usually involves psychoanalysis, group therapy, and/or behavioral therapy in order to alleviate symptoms of mental or emotional disturbances. These techniques are designed to change a patient’s behavior and lead to improved functioning and personality growth.
Consulting is a method of obtaining professional information, guidance or advice from an authority on a particular subject. A consultant generally does the work on your behalf, rather than teaching you how to duplicate their process so you can achieve life changing results for yourself.
Coaching is generally conducted over the phone, which allows clients to be any place where they have privacy and the ability to focus on the call. This permits people to more easily fit the coaching into their busy schedules, and to work with a coach from a different geographic area if they desire. A key factor in the coaching alliance is the rapport between the coach and client. Since coaching is done by phone, you have the advantage of selecting a coach based on your needs and preferences rather than your location.
Coaching sessions will total an average of three hours per month. This can be done as three one-hour sessions or four 45-minute sessions per month, depending on the preference of the client. Call times are typically set on a regular schedule, and may be adjusted to accommodate your needs. We will work together to design a coaching plan that best serves you. In addition to regularly scheduled coaching sessions, a client may also call or email for additional support or course corrections on an as-needed basis.
My coaching fees are $350 per month, with a two-month minimum agreement. Since coaching is a process with expanding results, clients may choose to extend their coaching on a month-to-month basis. Clients will typically work with a coach for anywhere from six months to two years as they develop new goals and achieve additional successes. Regardless of how long you choose to continue coaching, the results you experience will forever influence the future you are living into.
